MASAI MARA, KENYA

My First Safari… Lions, Elephants, Giraffes–Oh My!!!!

Visiting Masai Mara was one of the most unforgettable experiences I have ever had. Seeing all of these beautiful animals existing in the same space in the open was remarkable. Never once did I feel in danger. While there you will get a new perspective of Africa as you tour this beautiful part of the world.

The Masai Mara borders Tanzania’s Serengeti and is filled with wildlife roaming free in the national game reserve in Narok County, Kenya. The best time to go is for the wildebeest migration, which takes place between June and September. Hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, elephants, and other animals cross over the river from Tanzania to Kenya.

Mara Bushtop Camp is set amid the 232- square mile Mara Siana Wildlife Conservancy, directly bordering the Masai Mara itself. There are only 12 luxury tents (with 24 hour butler service), open on 3 sides with sighting happening right outside of your tent. There is also a wine cellar on property with a wide variety of wines curated  from around the world. For those who want something a little romantic, be sure to book a  private dinner  in the cellar. You won’t be disappointed.

Do get out and learn the culture of the Masai Tribe. The Masai were one of the influences for the critically acclaimed Black Panther film, as seen in the costumes of Wakanda’s security, the Dora Milaje. You can go to the Masai village, mingle with the chief, and buy some of their goods.
