Babylonstoren  located in Franschhoek

Franschhoek, South Africa which means French Corner in Dutch is a small town in the Western Cape Provence. It is one of the oldest towns in the Republic of South Africa dating back to 1692  and is known for producing some of the best wines the region has to offer.

My favorite place to visit when I am in that part of the world is Babylonstoren. This farm produces great wine, has the best farm to table food (they grow it, you eat it), and has tours of the gardens daily where you are encourage to eat whatever your heart desires.

The accomodations (if you so choose to stay on property-which I would highly recommend) are old farm houses that have been converted into beautiful rooms that are spacious and well planned out.  You are also provided with a bicycle to use while there to tour the property and discover some of the hidden treasures on the land. The farmhouses all have whitewashed walls of thick stone or primitive brick,  thatched roofs with a contemporary glass enclosure housing a  kitchen and dining area. The result is a fam house with a modern twist in decor.

There is also a first rate spa, pool, bakery and a shop with fresh produce and recipe books and wears to purchase. I can’t say enough about this property as well as Franschhoek,so let me show you in the video!!!

(DISCLAIMER: I was not planning on hiking up the mountain that day….which explains why I am carrying a purse. lol and YES the donkey did nip my should. Oops)

Enjoy experiencing Babylonstoren!
