Anguilla

Anguilla is my favorite island in the Caribbean for a number of reasons. Located in  Eastern Caribbean, Anguilla  is less than ten miles north of St. Martin and 200 miles east of Puerto Rico. It is easy to get to by both air or water.

The  island is only 16 miles long  and 3 miles widest boast of over 175 restaurants (both established and home based) located throughout the island featuring fresh, amazing cuisine. They hold the title of having the largest number of restaurants on any island in the Caribbean.

Anguilla is a flat island comprised of mostly coral and limestone. One main road runs through the center of the island allowing you to go from one end to the other in less than 30-40 minutes.

In addition to great food, Anguilla boasts well over 33 of the most beautiful beaches in the world. A couple of  years ago Shoal Bay was voted  the world’s best beach because of  its blinding white sands and  electric turquoise seas. All beaches in Anguilla are open to  the public and are never overcrowded.

Even though this is a small island, there are over 175 restaurants (both established and home based) located throughout the island with fresh, amazing cuisine. this is the largest number of restaurants on any island in the Caribbean.

Anguilla is home to one of THE biggest beach parties in the entire Caribbean on “August Monday,” the first Monday in August. Held on the beach hundreds of people and boats from all  around the Caribbean flock to the beaches for this party. It has become the oldest independent music festival in the Caribbean.Bands take to the stage keeping people dancing and swaying to the music the entire day.  August Monday centers around  one of the most  popular boatraces  of the year. On August Monday, the sailboats sail around the whole island in this this most important  race that is used to  qualify sailboats for boatraces held later on in the Carnival season. The season  begins in July and ends the second Sunday in August with the final boatrace of Carnival season  naming THE champion of the year.
